Candle Cloth and Prayer Project

In June, Cindi Knox and Mary Dycus will be attending General Synod 27.

Plainfield Congregational United Church of Christ will be participating in a candle cloth exchange project. Participating congregations will each contribute a 14x14 to 20x20 inch square cloth for use under a candle, and a prayer to go along with it. In turn, they will receive a cloth and prayer from another congregation.

Some of our members volunteered to make the cloth:

Some of our members wrote a one or two sentence prayer of blessing or thanksgiving for the congregation which will receive the cloth. These prayers were woven into one:

We give thanks to God for your witness to God's love, hope and compassion in your community, and for the ways you preserve and protect all those resources of our earth from the rich soil to the animals and skies above. We pray for the blessings of unity, wellness, and abundance of life to each and every family, and each individual as you learn the love of Christ as child, teen, and adult. May God continue to richly bless you, as you bless others.

and were put on the back of the cloth:

At General Synod, Mary will receive the cloth from another congregation and bring it home to Plainfield Congregational UCC.
